Amaresh Nayak was reportedly killed over a dispute triggered by bursting of fire crackers on the occasion of Diwali in the Housing Board Colony area under Airfield Police limits in Bhubaneswar on October 27.
As per reports, around 20 armed youths opposed the celebrations and had attacked Amaresh with sharp weapons. Though Amaresh was rushed to the Capital Hospital for treatment, he succumbed to his injuries later.
The witnesses in the case alleged that they were getting threats and the attack on Amaresh could be fallout of some past rivalry. Moreover, the family members of the deceased also suspect involvement of political leader in the incident.
Meanwhile, further investigation by Commissionerate Police is underway.
