As per the allegations, the incident took place when the girl was carrying water for her elder sister who was fishing, when one Bimaleswar Majhi of the same village dragged her to a secluded place and raped her and fled the spot.
A case was registered following a complaint lodged by her family members against Majhi at the Bansda police station.
Soon, police initiated an investigation and later conducted a medical examination on the girl. Meanwhile, sources said the accused is absconding after the incident.
"When I was on way, Bimala intercepted and asked me to see whether something has fallen into his eyes. But there was nothing. He dragged me to a secluded place near the pond," alleged the minor rape survivor.
In a similar incident, police detained two youths for allegedly raping and attacking a woman in Gurundia village of Sundergarh district on Wednesday.
As per sources, the woman, while going to work, was intercepted by two youths and dragged to a nearby place. When she protested, the youths attacked and allegedly raped her. Following a complaint, police detained the duo while further investigation into the incident is on.
As per reports, the girl was returning from a Jatra show with her brother early in the morning today when four persons on two bikes stopped them and took the girl to a secluded place where two of the miscreants raped her.
The survivor's brother was also thrashed but he managed to escape from the clutches of the miscreants and raised an alarm in the village. The survivor's uncle along with other villagers rushed to the spot where they nabbed one of the miscreants.
Narayan Mahalik, the uncle of the girl said, “They were returning after watching a jatra show at around 4 AM when the miscreants followed them from the college area. They finally caught hold of her near the Anganwadi centre and two of them raped her.”
Umashankar Moharana, the Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) said, “A complaint in this regard has been lodged and an investigation is currently underway.”
