During her visit to the train mishap site in Balasore's Bahanaga, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee was seen engaging in war of words with Union Railway Vaishnaw over the death toll in the accident.
"In view of the unfortunate accident in Odisha, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has advised all airlines to monitor any abnormal surge in airfares to and from Bhubaneswar and other airports of the State and take necessary action regarding the same," it said in a statement.
The statement from the PM came after he went to Balasore hospital and met the accident victims.
He was accompanied by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and was briefed on the situation by both Vaishnaw as well as officers of the disaster management team which worked overnight to rescue people at the disaster site where at least 261 people have died and 900 more injured.

In Patukasasana village under Balasore’s Remuna block, two cousin brothers drowned while taking bath in nearby Budhabalanga River. Both the deceased were reportedly minors aged eight and 17 years respectively.
