The left-arm pacer, who has played for Mumbai in a couple of T20 games, has been attending the training sessions of Goa and is all set to be the state's professional signing of the season, a Cricbuzz report said.
"Getting maximum game time on the ground is important for Arjun at this juncture of his career. We believe that the shift will improve the probability of Arjun featuring in more competitive matches. He is embarking on a new phase of his cricketing career," said Tendulkar about the planned switch.
Goa Cricket Association president Suraj Lotilkar said that the state team wanted a left-arm pacer.
"We are in need of a left-arm pacer and Arjun has shown interest. We generally recruit professionals and if he suits our team's requirements he will be picked. It is up to our selectors," he said.
The 22-year old Arjun was part of the Mumbai Ranji Trophy squad in the league stages last season but could not make the cut for the knockouts. Given the quality of talent available in Mumbai, the youngster could not make it to the XI at any stage.
Former India pacer and Mumbai chief selector Salil Ankola hoped the move will give a boost to Arjun's career.
"We picked him for the Ranji Trophy last year but he could not make the XI. He is an extremely talented boy and all he needs is some match time so that he can prove his abilities. I hope this switch will serve that purpose," said Ankola.
The domestic season starts on September 8 this year but the real inter-state competition that can provide an opportunity for Arjun will be in two months when the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy gets underway from October 11 to 22 (league stage).
Goa finished fourth in Elite Group D of the Ranji Trophy last season with one draw and two losses. The country's premier domestic cricket tournament starts on December 13, this year.
Apart from enjoying training at various state-of-the-art facilities, the MI youngsters will be playing at least 10 T20 games against top club sides across multiple counties.
During this tour, Arjun met England woman cricketer Danielle Wyatt for lunch in London. Danielle posted a picture of her lunch date with Arjun on her Instagram story. The post soon became viral. In the photo, Arjun can be found enjoying lunch at Sohoo.
The support staff of the franchise headed by chief coach Mahela Jayawardene will be in England to oversee the progress of the Indian youngsters.
As per MI sources, the Indian domestic season has come to an end. While the top players like skipper Rohit Sharma, pacer Jasprit Bumrah will be with the national team and the international stars will also be busy with their respective commitments. The franchise is monitoring the younger crop of players as they won’t be having any match practice for three and half months before the next domestic season starts.
As per many cricket experts and few insiders of MI, the time has come for the franchise to test its bench strength and Arjun’s time to showcase his talent in a big platform has finally arrived.
The left-arm pace all-rounder has been with the Mumbai Indians squad for the past two seasons but is yet to make his debut.
The left-arm pacer has given some hint about his possible debut by taking to Instagram ahead of Mumbai’s last game of the season against Delhi Capitals today. He has posted a series of stories on the social media platform. In the Insta story, fans can see him bowling some lethal yorkers during MI’s practice games.
Notably, it has been a season to forget for the five-time champions. They have chopped and changed their playing eleven too many times during this poor campaign. The franchise has given chances to as many as 21 players in a squad of 24. Only Arjun Tendulkar, Aryan Juyal and Rahul Buddhi are yet to play a game in the league.
Following a defeat in their last game, skipper Rohit Sharma also hinted that they would look to try as many players as possible in their last game of the season. Going by Rohit’s words, Arjun is all set to be in contention for a debut in IPL.
Since the last few matches the fans of the franchise have been calling for the inclusion of Arjun into the playing XI. Arjun’s sister Sara is also expecting an IPL debut for his brother as she had turned up at one of MI’s matches last week.
In its latest post on Twitter, the franchise on Wednesday posted a video of Arjun with the caption “Charged with a perfect follow through action! Arjun, lay bhaari hai (rhythm is strong)”.

Fans of Mumbai Indians have become anxious again about Arjun’s inclusion into the team following the posting of the video.
Reacting to the latest post, a fan wrote, “khilaoge bhi ke nahi (will you play him or not)”.
“Khilana to wahi run machines sams aur unadkat ko hai phir dikha kyun raha hai iska video,” wrote another fan.
Notably Mumbai’s last video on Arjun cleaning up a team batter had also gone viral on various social media platforms triggering anticipation that the youngster will finally get a game.
The all-rounder was part of the Mumbai Indians in the last season also, but he has not got a game so far.
The video, which was uploaded on Youtube by the official MI handle, shows Arjun bowling to a left-handed MI batsman in the nets during a practice session. Arjun bowls a killer yorker to the southpaw which cleans up his stumps in the net.
An absolute thunderbolt of a delivery perplexed the left-handed batsman and went through his defence to crash into the stumps. The video was captioned, “Arjun Tendulkar's searing Yorker”.
Commenting on that video, a user, Gaminggod, wrote, “That was a perfect Yorker and they call him trash. People seriously can’t digest the fact he’s Sachin’s son who actually plays well. Idk (I Don’t Know) if he’s gifted like Sachin . But he sure does put in a lot of hard work, that does pay off.”
Mumbai Indians’ Arjun Tendulkar might not have made his debut in the Indian Premier League yet, but that is not stopping him from launching searing yorkers in the nets.
While Arjun showcases his exploits in the nets, Mumbai Indians would be hoping for similar stuff from their team which is yet to win a single game in the current season of the IPL. They have equalled the worst start in the history of the league by losing six out of the first six games this season.
Now, Mumbai will have to win all the remaining matches if they want to stand a chance to qualify for the playoffs.
India U-19 team led by Anuj Rawat were invited to bowl first by the hosts in the first youth test being played in Colombo and left-arm pacer Arjun Tendulkar trapped Lankan opener Kamil Mishara in his second over. Mishara failed to get a bat on to an in-swinging delivery from Arjun and the umpire found him right in front of the stumps.
Team India bowled the Lankans out for a mere score of 244 runs. Arjun picked up only one wicket in the innings but was impressive with his economy rate and bowling control. He gave away 33 runs in 11 overs. Harsh Tyagi and Ayush Badoni were the pick of the bowlers as they claimed four wickets each for the Indian under 19 side.
In reply, Team India has lost the wicket of Anuj Rawat (63) and at the end of the opening day were at 92/1, trailing by 152 runs.
Seeing Arjun picking up his maiden wicket for the Indian under 19 team, former cricketer and Sachin Tendulkar’s childhood friend Vinod Kambli took to twitter to congratulate Arjun and posted an emotional message.
“Tears of joy rolled down when I saw this, have seen him grow up and put in the hard work in his game. Could not be more happy for you, Arjun. This is just the beginning, I wish you tons and ton of success in the days to come. Cherish your first wicket and enjoy the moment,” tweeted Kambli.

Cricket writer Nibraz Ramzan also took to twitter and posted the video of Arjun Tendulkar’s first wicket and tagged Sachin Tendulkar in that tweet.

Arjun Tendulkar was selected in the under-19 squad for the tour of Sri Lanka in July. Ahead of the tour, he attended a U-19 camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) under the supervision of WV Raman and Sanath Kumar.
India will be playing two youth test matches against the Lankans in this tour with the second test match scheduled to begin from July 24.
The 19-year-old budding left-arm pacer triggered a bidding war at the auction for the second season of the league. Arjun had a base price of Rs 1 lakh. Several teams tried to pick Arjun and the bid swiftly went to Rs 5 lakh quoted by North Mumbai Panthers.
Later, Charu Sharma, conducting the auction, gave the two new teams -- Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburb and Eagle Thane Strikers the option to exercise the opportunity to match (OTM).
Both the teams decided to exercise their OTMs at Rs 5 lakh. Thus, two cards were placed in a bag and Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) ad hoc committee member Unmesh Khanvilkar picked a card that belonged to Aakash Tigers.
Sachin is the brand ambassador of the local league.
Arjun was the last player to come up in the accelerated auction and received just one bid from Mumbai who eventually got him in the base price.
Even though this will be the junior Tendulkar's first official entry into the IPL as a player, he has had stints with Mumbai Indians as a net bowler. He had travelled to the UAE with the team last year as a net bowler.
Left-arm pacer Arjun had recently made his senior debut for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy where he picked up two wickets in equal number of matches. The budding cricketer has been playing age-group tournaments for Mumbai over the years. He has also been playing various invitational tournaments.
Arjun has drawn the attention of the franchises by slamming an unbeaten 77 off just 31 balls studded with eight sixes and five fours for MIG Cricket Club in the 73rd Police Invitation Shield tournament on February 14. He also picked up three wickets for 41 runs as his team handed Islam Gymkhana a 194-run defeat in a second round Group A match.
The budding all-rounder has been seen bowling to the Indian national team in the nets. He has also represented the India U-19 team when it toured Sri Lanka in 2018.
It will be a great learning experience for the 21-year-old to be part of the star-studded Mumbai Indians line-up.
Arjun Tendulkar was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 20 lakh at the Indian Premiere League (IPL) auction on Thursday.
The left-arm pacer had entered the auction with the base price of Rs 20 lakh and was sold at the same price to the five-time IPL champions.
His celebrated father, Sachin Tendulkar, had played for Mumbai Indians for five editions, beginning from 2008 when the IPL was launched in the country.
Arjun Tendulkar's entry to the team was criticised by a section on social media, which felt he got an undue advantage only because he was the son of the cricket icon.
Akhtar came out in support on Arjun Tendulkar in a post on Twitter, saying that his enthusiasm shouldn't be killed with unfair comments.
"I feel I should say this about Arjun Tendulkar. We frequent the same gym and I've seen how hard he works on his fitness, seen his focus to be a better cricketer.
"To throw the word 'nepotism' at him is unfair and cruel. Don't murder his enthusiasm and weigh him down before he's begun," the 47-year-old "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" star wrote.
Arjun Tendulkar was the last player to go under the hammer during the auction and there was one bid for him and that was by Mumbai Indians.
The 21-year-old recently made his senior Mumbai team debut when he played in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the national T20 championship, against Haryana.
So far, the left-handed batsman and left-arm pacer has played two matches for Mumbai in the T20 format, in which he has scored three runs and taken two wickets.
