In a landmark industrial initiative, Odisha TEX 2025, the state’s first-ever textile and apparel investment summit, concluded with resounding success on Friday, drawing investment proposals worth Rs 7,808 crore and promising to generate over 53,300 jobs across the textile and apparel sector, stated a post by the Chief Minister’s Office on X on Saturday.

Held at the Lok Seva Bhawan Convention Hall in Bhubaneswar, the summit marked a decisive move by the state government to position Odisha as a national textile manufacturing powerhouse.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who inaugurated the event, called it a turning point for Eastern India’s textile ecosystem.

Rs 7,800 Cr in Fresh Investment, 33 Firms Sign MoUs

According to reports by The New Indian Express, a total of 33 companies, including major players like Sportsking India Ltd, KPR Mill Ltd, First Step Babywear, Creative Garments, SCM Garments, and MCPI Pvt Ltd, signed MoUs to set up textile, apparel, and technical textile units in Odisha.

Notably, this investment is in addition to the Rs 7,002 crore worth of textile MoUs inked during the Make-in-Odisha Conclave 2025, earlier this year.

The newly proposed units are expected to catalyse job creation, reduce migration, and build industrial capacity in districts like Balangir, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, and Cuttack.

Infrastructure Boost: New Parks and Hostels Inaugurated

To support the industrial thrust, CM Majhi also launched six new Textile and Apparel Parks with plug-and-play facilities, and two advanced footwear parks designed for global-standard manufacturing. Modern workers’ hostels were also inaugurated to support the growing industrial workforce.

A dedicated task force under the Industries Department has been set up to fast-track project implementation, ensuring full government backing, timely approvals, and industry facilitation.

Policy Support and Employment Subsidy Hike

Highlighting Odisha’s policy edge, the CM reaffirmed the state’s commitment under the Industrial Policy Resolution (IPR) 2022 and the Odisha Apparel and Technical Textiles Policy (OATTP) 2022.

As a key announcement, employment cost subsidies have been raised from Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 per month for male workers and from Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,000 per month for female workers.

It is worth mentioning that more than 160 companies participated in the summit, engaging in panel discussions, B2B networking, and an exhibition on handloom and technical textiles.
