World Para Athletics Championships 2025: Odisha star Suchitra Parida finishes sixth

Competing in the Women’s Javelin Throw F55/56 final, Suchitra achieved a Personal Best (PB) throw of 18.29 meters, finishing 6th place among the world’s top throwers.

Odisha’s star para athlete Suchitra Parida delivered a commendable performance at the World Para Athletics Championships 2025, held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.

Competing in the Women’s Javelin Throw F55/56 final, Suchitra achieved a Personal Best (PB) throw of 18.29 meters, finishing 6th place among the world’s top throwers.

This was Suchitra’s debut appearance at the World Championships. Securing a personal best in her very first global final highlights her growing potential on the international stage. Her performance also adds to the pride of Odisha and India, as the nation hosts the World Para Athletics Championships for the very first time.

Speaking after her event, Suchitra said, “I didn’t perform at my best, but I am happy with my sixth-place finish. My focus now shifts to the 2025 World Abilitysport Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand (November 17–24, 2025), where I will strive to deliver an even stronger performance for Odisha and India.”

The Para Sports Association of Odisha congratulated Suchitra for her determined effort and expressed confidence that this milestone will inspire many more para athletes from the state to aim for excellence at the international level.
