During the Indian Women’s World Cup-winning team’s visit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence on Wednesday, all-rounder Deepti Sharma opened up about the source of her strength- the Lord Hanuman tattoo on her hand.
In a heartfelt conversation, Deepti expressed deep admiration for the Prime Minister, saying his earlier words had continually inspired her.
“We were eagerly waiting to meet you, and we really enjoyed today,” she said. “I remember you told me in 2017 that a player is defined by how they rise after failures. You said, ‘Keep working hard,’ and that’s exactly what we did. Your advice really motivated me.”

When PM Modi asked her about the Lord Hanuman tattoo on her hand, Deepti replied with emotion: “I have more faith in him than in myself.”
Notably, Deepti Sharma delivered a stellar all-round performance, scoring a run-a-ball 58 and claiming five wickets for 39 runs to power India to a 52-run victory over South Africa in the final on Sunday night. Her efforts earned her the Player of the Tournament title.
Throughout the series, Deepti dominated the bowling charts with 22 wickets in nine matches and contributed 215 runs, which included three half-centuries, one of them the match-winning knock in the final.
