Indian cricket fans have plenty to cheer about as star batter Virat Kohli is set to make a return to domestic cricket, featuring in Delhi’s third match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The former India captain is expected to turn out for Delhi in their clash against Railways on January 6 at the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
Confirming Kohli’s participation, Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley stated that the veteran batter has made himself available for three matches. “As of now, he is playing. Virat has given his availability for three games,” Jaitley said, putting to rest any speculation surrounding his domestic commitments.
Impressive Domestic Form
Kohli has looked in sublime touch in the two Vijay Hazare Trophy matches he has played so far, scoring commanding knocks of 131 and 77. During this run, he also crossed the 16,000-run mark in List A cricket, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar to become the fastest batter to reach the milestone.

Success in International Cricket
Prior to the domestic tournament, Kohli enjoyed a stellar outing in the three-match ODI series against South Africa. He smashed two consecutive centuries, followed by a fluent fifty, playing a key role in India’s 2-1 series victory. His remarkable performances earned him the Man of the Series award, with 303 runs across the series.
Preparation for New Zealand Series
Reports suggest that the Indian team will assemble in Vadodara on January 8. There is also a possibility that Kohli could arrive a day earlier to begin his preparations.
With form, fitness, and confidence on his side, Virat Kohli’s return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy adds excitement for fans and serves as ideal preparation ahead of the upcoming New Zealand ODIs.
