Class 9 student stabs classmate in Odisha’s Balasore; injured admitted to hospital

A class 9 student at Kamarda Nodal High School, Balasore, allegedly stabbed a classmate during the annual competition, leaving him critically injured. Police are investigating.

In a shocking incident, a class 9 student allegedly stabbed his classmate with a knife at Kamarda Nodal High School in Balasore district on Monday.

The unfortunate incident reportedly occurred during the school’s annual competition. The victim, who sustained severe injuries, has been admitted to the nearby hospital in a critical condition. He is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Sources said that there was some disagreement between both the students over some issue which later escalated into a physical altercation.  Today’s attack may have been premeditated with one student allegedly using a knife to target the other.

Upon being informed, Kamarda police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident. Teachers and school staff are cooperating with the police to ensure a thorough probe.

This incident has sparked concern among parents and local residents about the safety of students in schools. Discussions are underway regarding potential measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.

Earlier a month back, a 14-year-old student of a government-run school in Kendrapara had allegedly stabbed his classmate with a knife. The incident took place in a classroom of Telengabasant Nodal Upper Primary School, under the jurisdiction of Pattamundai Rural police station.
