Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Vaibhav Suryavanshi set the internet and cricket fields on fire through 2025, emerging not only as a sensation with the bat but also as the most searched Indian personality of the year. The young left-hander enjoyed a meteoric rise after impressive outings for India A, in age-group cricket, and particularly in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Having made his Ranji Trophy debut at just 12, the Bihar-born prodigy continued his upward climb, with 2025 marking his true arrival on the big stage.
At 14, Suryavanshi became one of the most discussed young cricketers in the country. He shot into the spotlight when he smashed a breathtaking 101 off just 38 balls for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans making him the youngest male player to score a T20 century. He reached the milestone in only 35 deliveries, the second-fastest hundred in IPL history and the quickest ever by an Indian, hitting 11 sixes and seven boundaries along the way.
His heroics extended well beyond the IPL. While playing for India A in the Rising Stars Asia Cup, he blasted a 32-ball hundred against the UAE, clearing the ropes 15 times and striking 11 fours. Back home, he continued his dream run for Bihar. Named vice-captain for the opening fixtures of the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy, he became the youngest player to hold the post. He also hammered an unbeaten 108 from 61 balls in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, making him the youngest to score a century in the competition.

Google’s ‘Year in Search 2025’ reflected his popularity, placing Suryavanshi at the top of India’s most-searched personalities. Fellow youngster Priyansh Arya claimed the second spot, while Punjab opener Abhishek Sharma, who climbed to No. 1 in the ICC T20I batting rankings , was third. Shaik Rasheed, 21, also made a surprise entry into the top five. Women’s World Cup stars Jemimah Rodrigues and Smriti Mandhana featured within the top ten, along with Karun Nair, U19 captain Ayush Mhatre, wicketkeeper-batter Urvil Patel, and spinner Vignesh Puthur. Remarkably, every name in the top 10 belonged to the cricketing world.
Priyansh, 24, enjoyed a productive maiden IPL season by scoring 475 runs in 17 matches for Punjab Kings. Ayush Mhatre also impressed — first with a blistering 94 off 48 balls, then as India U19 captain, and later with over 500 first-class runs in the year.
In overall searches across India for 2025, cricket led the way, with the IPL at No. 1. Google Gemini, Asia Cup, Champions Trophy, and Pro Kabaddi League formed the rest of the top five. The Women’s World Cup, which was among the most viewed global events, ranked seventh domestically, while the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj also saw massive interest.
Cricket ruled the internet and at its heart stood a 14-year-old rewriting the definition of prodigy.
