More than 3,000 police personnel, nearly 1,000 home guards, and advanced anti-drone technology will be deployed to ensure tight security during the India–New Zealand T20 World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday evening.
Ahmedabad Police Commissioner G.S. Malik said the police have made extensive arrangements for the high-profile match, which is expected to draw massive crowds.
According to Malik, senior police officials will supervise the security operation at the venue. The deployment includes a joint commissioner of police, 12 deputy commissioners of police (DCPs), and several officers of different ranks who will monitor the arrangements throughout the event.
To further strengthen security, authorities have introduced some additional precautions this time. Special holding areas have been set up near Gates 1 and 2 of the stadium, close to the main road, to regulate crowd movement and prevent any risk of a stampede. Officials said this measure is being implemented for the first time during a cricket match at the stadium.

Advanced surveillance and safety systems have also been installed. Three anti-drone systems will monitor aerial threats, while eight teams from the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) will remain stationed around the stadium premises. Police also conducted a rehearsal to review and test the security arrangements ahead of the final.
The police commissioner urged spectators to use public transport, including buses and the Metro, to avoid traffic congestion around the stadium. He also assured that transport services would continue late into the night so fans can return home smoothly after the match.
Authorities have also taken steps to ensure the safety and convenience of women attending the game. Female police personnel will be deployed alongside male officers, and frisking will be carried out by officers of the same gender.
Spectators have been warned not to park vehicles in non-designated areas near the stadium, as strict action may be taken against violations.
Inside the stadium, special measures have been put in place to prevent spectators from entering the playing area during the match. A dedicated system under the supervision of a DCP will monitor this aspect.
Responding to concerns about illegal ticket sales, Malik said the police will take strict action against anyone involved in black-marketing. He confirmed that two individuals have already been arrested for allegedly selling match tickets illegally.
