Skeleton Of Murdered Youth Retrieved From Cave, 3 Arrested

Bhubaneswar: Rayagada police on Tuesday retrieved the skeletal remains of a youth from a narrow stone cave inside a jungle and arrested three persons in connection with the murder.

The youth was allegedly murdered three months ago over lopsided love affair. The deceased youth has been identified as one Manoranjan Baliar Singh of Kothagada in Kandhamala district. The arrested accused had allegedly shot him dead and later, secretly buried him inside a remote cave in a dense forest.

Police informed that the murdered youth was in lopsided love affair with a girl and wanted to marry her however the girl’s family objected to it. However, the deceased youth reportedly used to visit the girl's village.

Peeved at such a development, the relatives of the girl allegedly hatched a plot to eliminate him. The three accused allegedly asked him to come to a jungle, shot him dead and cut the body with a sharp weapon. Later on, they buried the body inside a cave in the jungle.

“When Manoranjan did not return his native place for so many days, his family members lodged a missing complaint following which police started an investigation and the crime was unravelled. Further investigation is underway in connection with the case,” the district police said.
