Duplicate tea powder manufacturing unit busted in Cuttack

Cuttack seems to be becoming a hub for adulteration of food products. After spurious ghee, spices, sauce and oil manufacturing units, a duplicate tea powder manufacturing unit was busted in the Jagatpur area of Cuttack on Thursday.

As per reports, the duplicate tea manufacturing unit was busted during the joint encroachment eviction drive by the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) enforcement squads in the area.

As per sources, a huge quantity of adulterated tea powder, raw material, duplicate labels of branded tea companies, tea packaging and processing machines were seized from the factory during the raid.

Samples of the adulterated material were sent for examination and further investigation into the incident has been launched. 

However, no reactions were received from the company authorities.

Earlier in 2021, another fake tea powder manufacturing unit was busted by the Commissionerate Police at Mukameswar village under Sadar Police limits of Cuttack district.
