India outclassed Pakistan in a match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
Fans were expecting a fiercely contested battle between the arch-rivals. However, it turned into a lop-sided affair. After the completion of the match, one of the moments caused significant controversy on social media platforms. Star Indian batter Virat Kohli was seen gifting his jersey to Pakistan captain Babar Azam.
However, it didn’t go down well with several fans. They feel that it would have been more prudent to do such an act in the dressing room, given the heavy margin of defeat.
Former Pakistan captain and legendry speedster Akram also passionately agreed with the fans.
“That’s what I exactly said when I saw the picture getting the shirts publicly, not privately,” said Akram during a television show.
“Today was not the day to do this. If you want to do it – “Agar chacha ke puttar ne kaha hai ki t-shirt chahiye Kohli ki, toh match ke baad dressing room me maango. (If your uncle’s son has asked you to get Kohli’s shirt – then do it after the game in the dressing room,” he added.
