Shikhar Dhawan starts a new innings in life, marries long-time girlfriend Sophie Shine in Delhi

Former India opener Shikhar Dhawan has embarked on a new chapter in his personal life, marrying long-time partner Sophie Shine in a private ceremony held in Delhi NCR on Saturday. The wedding, attended by close friends and family, marks a significant moment for the cricketer, who had made his relationship public earlier this year.

From Engagement to Wedding Bells

Dhawan and Sophie announced their engagement in January, sharing a heartfelt message on social media. “From shared smiles to shared dreams. Grateful for the love, the blessings, and every good wish for our engagement as we choose togetherness forever – Shikhar & Sophie,” he wrote.

The couple had been dating for a few years before confirming their relationship in 2025. They were first spotted together during the Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai. Earlier this week, Dhawan offered fans a glimpse of their Sangeet night, captioning a post, “Sangeet night. Almost the Dhawans.” Former teammate Yuzvendra Chahal also shared wedding pictures, adding to the celebrations online.

Who Is Sophie Shine?

Unlike many cricketing partners linked to entertainment or social media circles, Sophie Shine comes from a strong corporate background. Born in Ireland, she holds a degree in Marketing and Management from the Limerick Institute of Technology and studied at Castleroy College. She currently serves as Second Vice President at Northern Trust Corporation in Abu Dhabi and heads the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation.

Sophie, who has over 367,000 Instagram followers, has often been seen supporting Dhawan at matches.

Dhawan was previously married to Ayesha Mukherjee, with whom he shares an 11-year-old son, Zoravar. The couple divorced in 2023.
