Mumbai: Sachin Tendulkar returned to Indian Premier League action after a fortnight-long injury lay-off as Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat against Kings XI Punjab here on Sunday.

Tendulkar had played the season opening tie against Chennai Super Kings on April 4, a match in which he picked up a finger injury and missed MI`s next four games.
MI also brought back New Zealander James Franklin into the eleven along with Sri Lankan speedster Tissera Perera.

Kings XI included left-arm spinner Bhargav Bhatt and Siddharth Chitnis and left out Paul Valthaty and Harmeet Singh.
