Ravindra Jadeja’s wife, Rivaba Jadeja, has stirred debate with her remarks suggesting that certain Indian cricketers indulge in various vices during international tours. She made it clear, however, that her husband has never been part of such behaviour.

Speaking at a public event, Rivaba hinted at what she described as lesser-known off-field habits of players abroad, noting that athletes often have the freedom to do as they wish when away from public scrutiny. She was emphatic that Jadeja has always stayed away from such habits, despite being exposed to the same environments.

“My husband, Ravindra Jadeja, travels to many countries like London, Dubai and Australia to play cricket. Even then, he has never touched or engaged in any kind of vice because he knows his responsibilities. Other players do indulge in such things, and their families don’t restrict them,” she said.

Rivaba added that as people progress in life, it becomes essential to remain grounded and connected to cultural values.

Her comments come at a time when Jadeja is one of India’s senior-most players. While still a key figure in the Test side, he is set to join the Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2026 after parting ways with the Chennai Super Kings.

The topic of player conduct has surfaced several times in the past. In 2016, KL Rahul faced backlash after sharing a photo holding a beer bottle during the West Indies tour, prompting the BCCI to advise players to be more responsible on social media, given their influence on young fans. Rahul eventually removed the post.

Earlier in 2024, the Union Health Ministry urged the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the BCCI to ensure athletes avoid surrogate advertising of tobacco and alcohol brands. It recommended issuing clear instructions to prevent cricketers from engaging in any promotional activity linked to such products.
