The Sultan of Bollywood, Salman Khan celebrates his 58th birthday today. The handsome superstar has been one of the most controversial personalities in the film industry despite being a bachelor to date. From his tumultuous affairs and fall-outs to legal problems, every year in the last 30 years of his career fans saw their dear Salman Khan embroiled in some controversy or the other.

Salman Khan tweeted in support of Yakub Memon
Yakub Memom was one of the main culprits in the 1993 Mumbai serial blast and was convicted by the Mumbai High Court. When the verdict came out, the Tiger 3 actor tweeted, “Brother is being hanged for tiger.” He followed this tweet with another comment “1 innocent man killed is killing humanity”. It caused a lot of uproar on social media and finally, his father Salim Khan had to apologise.
The shocking rape comment
When Salman Khan was shooting for Sultan, he had to undergo a rigorous routine. When asked how he felt the Bollywood superstar said that it felt as if he had been raped like a woman after the shooting is over. The actor said, “When I used to walk out of that ring, it used to be actually like a raped woman walking out.” As expected it led to a big controversy and Salman Khan had to apologise.
Nevertheless, the gang rape victim from the village of Hisar also sent a notice demanding 10 crore compensation for humiliating rape victims in this way.
Elite class remark on 26/11 Mumbai attack
Salman Khan was slammed as insensitive and anti-nationalist when during an interview with a Pakistani channel he said that the 26/11 attack got more attention because the attack was targeted at elite people. The attack had taken place at Mumbai’s 5-star hotel Taj and this remark did not go down well with the political parties. Once again he had to apologise and take back his statement.
That Bhangi comment
Salman Khan once described his dancing style as Bhangi. This irked the Valmiki community who filed a complaint against him and also protested in front of his house. Later on, the complaint was withdrawn after the Bollywood superstar apologised.
SRK-Salman Khan brawl
Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan had a bitter fight at Katrina Kaif’s birthday after the latter made some remarks about Salman’s ex-girlfriend Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Rumours were strong that the two got physical during this fight with Salman even slapping Shah Rukh. They did not speak with each other for five years but ended the Cold War at the Iftar Party of Baba Siddiqui in 2003.
