Odisha suffered a humiliating loss against formidable Vidarbha in an Elite group match of Ranji Trophy at the  Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on Tuesday.

Despite a fighting chase, Odisha lost by a margin of 100 run. It was the third defeat of the team from four matches in the ongoing season.

Vidarbha were bowled out for 286 in their first innings thanks to some brilliant bowling by the Odisha bowlers. However, Odisha were skittled out for 160 as the woeful form of the batters continued.

Subsequently, Vidarbha declared their second essay on 218 for the loss of two wickets. Though, Odisha batters fought well initially, they were eventually bundled out for 244.

Opener Swastik Samal (65) and Gourav Choudhury (47) gave a brilliant start with a partnership of 100 run for the first wicket. Sandeep Pattnaik (27) and skipper Subhranshu Senapati (28) got good starts, but failed to convert those scores into something substantial. Veteran Govind Poddar (46) also fought well. However, The top order batters didn't get any support from the lower order batters and a long tail.

Parth Rekhade (5/80) was the wrecker-in-chief for Vidarbha. He was well supported by Praful Hinge (3/41).
