Odisha star Suchitra Parida to represent India at World Para Athletics Championships 2025

Odisha continues to shine on the global para sports stage as Suchitra Parida, national record holder in women’s javelin throw (F-55/56 category), has been selected to represent Team India at the prestigious World Para Athletics Championships 2025.

For the first time in history, India will host the World Para Athletics Championships at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi, from 27th September to 5th October 2025. The mega event will bring together over 1,700 athletes from more than 100 nations, competing across 186 events.

Suchitra’s selection is a proud moment not only for Odisha but also for the entire nation. Her dedication, perseverance, and consistent performances have earned her this well-deserved opportunity to showcase her talent at the world stage.

Adding further pride, as many as 12 national technical officials (NTOs) from Odisha have been appointed to serve at the Championships. Their expertise, knowledge, and service will contribute significantly to the smooth conduct of this landmark event.

Speaking on the achievement, Sunil Pradhan, Secretary, Para Sports Association of Odisha, said, “Suchitra Parida’s selection is a matter of immense pride for Odisha. The presence of our 12 National Technical Officials at the World Championships shows the strong foundation we have built in para sports. Odisha is not only playing a vital role in India’s para sports journey today but is also working towards future growth with a vision to make the state a powerhouse of para athletics in the country.”
