In the 108-run chase, Raj opened the innings and scored 23 off 33 balls. She crossed the 2000-run mark after taking a single off the bowling of Oshadi Ranasinghe in the sixth over of the Indian innings.

Raj became the seventh woman cricketer to achieve the T20I feat today. The list is headed by former England captain Charlotte Edwards (2605) while the current Caribbean and New Zealand captains, Stafanie Taylor and Suzie Bates, also have runs in excess of 2500. Mithali Raj is also the leading run-scorer in women’s ODIs with 6373 runs from 194 ODIs.
