Odisha’s Para swimmers made a stellar mark on the first day of the Nationa Para Swimming Championship at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday.
The para swimmers from the state secured a total of seven medals including three gold, one silver, and three bronze.
In the Men’s S-4 Category 100m freestyle event, Balaram Swain clinched the gold medal with an impressive time of 3:01.98, outperforming Lakhan Singh of Rajasthan, who finished with a time of 3:11.33 to secure the Silver, and Dharmendra Ahirwar of Madhya Pradesh , who took bronze with a time of 3:36.66.
In the Men’s S-5 Category 100m freestyle event, Narahari Behera clinched the gold medal with an impressive time of 1:53.39, outperforming Vishwas Kurpad Satyanarayan of Karnataka , who finished with a time of 2:09.91 to secure the silver, and Venkatesan Perumal of Tamil Nadu, who took bronze with a time of 2:30.87.
In the Women’s S-6 Category 100m freestyle event, Kabita Dalai clinched the gold medal with a time of 2:12.56.

Odisha swimmer Ranjan Kumar Hansdah brought home the silver medal in the Men’s S-11 Category 50m back stroke event, clocking in at 46.06. Harilal Tudu from Jharkhand captured the gold with a time of 46.06, while Tomy Joseph from Kerala earned the bronze with a time of 53.06.
Odisha’s Dinesh Mohan Majhi won a Bronze Medal in the Men’s S-10 Category 100m 50m back stroke, finishing with a time of 38.36. The gold in this event went to Sahil Rajaram Jadhav from Karnataka, who finished with a remarkable time of 35.77, and Swapnil Sanjay Patil from Maharashtra claimed silver with a time of 36.05.
Odisha’s Sibananda Baidya won a bronze medal in the Men’s S-13 Category 100m freestyle event, finishing with a time of 1:30.78. The gold in this event went to Prasenjit Adak from West Bengal, who finished with a remarkable 01:19.63, and Suresh Nagula from Andhra Pradesh claimed silver 01:27.39.
Odisha’s Kamala Tudu won a bronze medal in the Men’s S-13 Category 100m freestyle event, finishing with a time of 1:46.43. The gold in this event went to Tejas Nandakumar from Karnataka, who finished with a remarkable 01:15.71, and Gopichand Lingutla from Karnataka claimed silver with a time of 01:18.94.
