Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Jayanarayan Mishra highlighted a contentious issue, questioning the potential influence of former bureaucrat VK. Pandian over proceedings in Odisha Assembly.
Mishra's assertions were based on the conversations he had with legislators from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in the Assembly lobby. The BJD reportedly indicated that decisions were often taken only upon instructions from Pandian. Mishra voiced concerns over the potential improper influence of an external individual over the Assembly's operations.
The BJP MLA’s statement came over the ongoing pandemonium in Odisha Assembly. He said that the government is ready for discussion after the Opposition moved an adjournment motion. However, the proceedings of the House is being adjourned since yesterday, he said.

Mishra further stated that there was time when BJD leaders were seen making seating and tent related arrangements. Now there is an ongoing competition among the BJD leaders to become what he described as Pandian's 'closest aide'.
“BJD MLAs had told me about this. The BJD is resorting to all sorts of things. When Speaker allowed the adjournment motion on farmers’ issue, the BJD stalled the House proceedings. The BJD leaders are working on the instruction of Pandian,” said Mishra.
People of Odisha have seen the works of BJD leaders like some were busy in serving food, arranging chairs and tents in the past.
Meanwhile, the chief whip of the opposition party, Pramila Mallik, has demanded that the comments made by Jayanarayan Mishra during a recent session of the legislative assembly should be expunged. Mallick accused Jayanarayan of concocting stories and insisted that the names of non-members should be struck from the statements.
