Ahmedabad: The anti-corruption wing of International Cricket Council (ICC) would maintain a vigil on the players in World Cup to ensure that they are not influenced by anyone, a top police official said here on Saturday.

"A few restrictions have been imposed on the players as well as on the persons meeting them during the course of their stay for World Cup matches," Joint Commissioner of Police Ahmedabad Satish Sharma said.

"ICC has sought help of the police in ensuring that no unwarranted persons find entry in hotels where the players are putting up, and we are supporting them," he said.

"But, it is the ICC which lays down the guidelines for players that whether they can go out of hotels or not and who can meet them," Sharma said.

The ICC officials and team security officers are in touch with our officers, he said adding that the prime duty of the police is to provide security cover and we have done that.
