Bhubaneswar: The organisers of the Hockey World Cup 2018 today took a step forward for the sport spectators when they revealed that this year there will be dedicated spectator zones at the Kalinga Stadium gallery, known as the ‘Fan Village’, where each one can experience the game like never before.
Due to the increasing interest of the fans, the organisers have decided to launch the Fan Village in that part of the gallery where they will be able to see their favourite players closely, shake hands & talk to them, take a selfie or an autograph, even during a match. Apart from this, there will be food courts and a live band to keep the stadium buzzing.
In short, what one expects during the Hockey Men's World Cup is an electrifying atmosphere and the intense passion in the eyes of the fans when they closely watch world class players walk and run on the turf.
As per reports, there will be two Fan Village Zones, on either sides of Gate No 3 of Kalinga Stadium where not only the players from India, but other foreign nations will interact with the fans and share their experience.
Twin City Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty says Fan zone is a concept to facilitate fans so that they can interact better with players and entertain themselves during the match.
“Spectators with tickets can go through the fan zone to their seats. They can enjoy music, live concert and most of all engage with their sports icons at this special zones. Players can also come here to enjoy moments with their fans during practice sessions," said Mohanty.
The police commissioner also added that people who once enter the gallery will not be allowed to return back to the fan zone. However, fans who want to watch the match late can spend their time at these special places, he said.

The countdown to hockey’s biggest event has already started with less than 100 days away for the extravaganza in the capital city of Bhubaneswar.
It may be noted here that hosts India have been grouped in Pool C alongside South Africa, Canada and Rio 2016 Olympic silver medalists Belgium for the upcoming Hockey World Cup 2018 scheduled to be played at the Kalinga Stadium from November 28 to December 16 this year.
