Odisha govt to take action against 196 absentee doctors 

Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling announced action against 196 absentee doctors. The move follows BJP MLA Tankadhar Tripathy's query in the Assembly on prolonged leave issues.

The Odisha government is now gearing up to take action against doctors who are absent from work by availing prolonged leave in the state.

This was informed by Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling in the Assembly on Monday.

While replying to a question by BJP MLA Tankadhar Tripathy, the Minister informed that at present 196 doctors from various cadres including Odisha Medical Health Service (OMHS),  Odisha Medical Education Service (OMES), and Odisha Homeopathic Medical Service (OHMS) are on leave for a prolonged period.

As a result, the doctors remain absent from their work citing various reasons for leave.

While replying to the MLA’s question, the state Health minister informed that steps are being taken to take action against such doctors as per the government provisions.
