India fast bowler Harshit Rana has opened up about the emotional struggles that shaped his cricketing journey, revealing how repeated failures and missed opportunities once left him in tears. Now an established name in India’s white-ball setup, Rana’s story is one of resilience, belief, and unwavering family support.

Learning to Handle Failure

Speaking to MensXP, Harshit revealed that handling failure was once his biggest challenge. During his formative years, he endured repeated disappointments at trials, often returning home in tears. He credited his father for standing by him during those difficult years and constantly pushing him to keep going, even when he had nearly given up.

“I know how to handle failure now. I have seen those ten years where nothing happened. I would go to trials and my name would not come. I would come back and cry every day in front of my dad,” Harshit said, underlining the emotional toll of those early setbacks.

Backing from the Team Management

Rana has been a favourite of India head coach Gautam Gambhir and has justified the faith shown in him with consistent performances. The pacer has taken 23 wickets in 13 ODIs at an average of 27.3 and has picked up seven wickets in six T20Is. His performances also played a role in India’s Champions Trophy and Asia Cup triumphs last year.

Learning from Virat and Rohit

Harshit also shared his experience of bowling to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the nets, revealing how the senior batters constantly challenge him to improve. According to Rana, their competitive mindset pushes him to operate at his peak during practice sessions.

Now part of India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2026, Harshit Rana’s journey from heartbreak to confidence reflects the grit and determination needed to succeed at the highest level of the sport.
