Kolkata: First time IPL winners Kolkata Knight Riders will be given a gala reception tomorrow at the Eden Gardens where West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will receive them at a grand ceremony.

The players, who arrive from Chennai this evening, will be taken tomorrow morning in a procession with the IPL trophy from Hazra crossing in South Kolkata to Writers Building, a distance of six kilometres, where the chief minister would greet them, accompanied by team owner Shah Rukh Khan.

The chief minister told reporters that the players would be taken on a trailer of a vehicle accompanied by thousands of KKR fans. Banerjee, who has already congratulated KKR for their scintillating five-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings in a thriller last night, said that the team would be given a civic reception by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.

The team members would be treated to speciality sweet `nakur cake sandesh` by the chief minister at her chamber. Asked what would be presented to the team, Banerjee replied, "We are a poor state. What can we give but love and good wishes."

Thereafter the CM, SRK and the team would leave for the Eden Garden to attend a 45-minute reception ceremony.

Bangla bands, Bhoomi, Chandrabindu and Dohar would be in attendance, who will belt out `chak de` songs, she said. The programme, where celebrities from the cine world will also be present, would be open to all.
