A newly constructed railway station collapsed at Kawnpui in Mizoram due to a landslide triggered by heavy rains on Wednesday.  After Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Kerala, the northeastern state has been experiencing torrential rainfall since August 20 resulting in landslides.

The entire incident was recorded by an eye-witness and has now gone viral on social media. The video shows the white-coloured building developing cracks with its pillars breaking off before the building finally collapses to the ground.

Meanwhile, Mizoram has reported more landslides, mudslides, and rockfalls in several areas within Aizawl town and its surrounding villages. On the other hand, the state government, in response to the ongoing heavy rainfall, has also announced the closure of schools in four districts.

The schools will remain closed as a precautionary measure due to severe weather conditions and torrential rains. Last week also, the schools were closed for five consecutive days in Aizawl, reported Deccan Herald.
