Of late Bhubaneswar has remained in news for wrong reasons. Be it the recent alleged torture of Army officer and his fiancee or the gang rape of a woman, the Smart City has witnessed a spurt in crimes.
One can easily gauge the state of affairs of the law and order situation after a PCR constable was allegedly stabbed following a tiff over honking. The incident has been reported from Sriram Nagar under Mancheswar Police limits. As per initial reports, the incident occurred at around 2 am on Friday.
Four youths were standing in Sriram Nagar when two youths on a motorcycle came after starting honking. Soon an altercation broke between the two groups. Later, the two youths allegedly attacked the other group with knives. Three youths have sustained injuries in the stabbing incident. It is alleged that one of the persons also attacked a constable after PCR van reached the spot after getting information about the incident.

Sources said that the accused youth has been detained. Meanwhile, the incident has raised questions on safety measures as a constable has been injured in the stabbing incident ahead of the Dusshera festivities.
One of the injured youth said, “The accused had left after the altercation but he attacked after returning again to the spot.”
Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra said, “The patrolling vehicle of Mancheswar Police had gone to a place and witnessed a clash between two groups while returning. A constable sustained injuries after being attacked by an accused with a sharp weapon. The accused is detained at police station and soon, he will be arrested.”
Mishra said that the accused had picked up some quarrel with some local youths. Later, he attacked the youths with a sharp weapon.
“We are investigating the matter to ascertain the exact motive behind the clash and attack. We are also verifying the criminal antecedents of the accused. The patrolling party responded well to the incident,” Mishra added.
