India is set to face South Africa in the opening match of the five-match T20I series at the iconic Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on December 9. The clash has ignited tremendous enthusiasm among cricket lovers across Odisha, who are eagerly counting down the days to witness high-voltage action under floodlights.
With just two days left for the much-anticipated match, Odisha has already begun welcoming the visiting team. A few members of the South African squad have touched down in the state on Friday. Other players of both teams are scheduled to arrive later today and tomorrow. Their arrival is expected to further intensify the buzz surrounding the series.
To facilitate seamless movement of the players from Biju Patnaik International Airport to a private hotel in Bhubaneswar and onward to the Barabati Stadium, Commissionerate Police reportedly conducted a full-scale carcade rehearsal today.
As per reports, the drill meticulously covered the entire route, ensuring readiness for security, convoy movement and traffic management on match day. Officials paid particular attention to bottleneck points to guarantee uninterrupted transit for both teams as well as minimise inconvenience to the public.
With teams arriving, security stepping up, and stands awaiting roaring crowds, Odisha is all set to host an electrifying start to the India-South Africa T20 series - one that promises thrill, competition and unforgettable cricketing moments.
