The Odisha health department on Tuesday constituted a three-member committee to probe the allegations of misconduct by a doctor of the SCB Medical College and Hospital.

The concerned cardiology department doctor has been accused of raping two patients. A case in this connection has been lodged at Mangalabag police station in Cuttack.

As per the order issued by the Odisha Health Department, the three-member committee has been constituted to enquire into the allegations against the DM cardiology resident doctor.

The probe committee members include- Prof (Dr) Santosh Mishra who is the Director of Medical Education and Training (DMET), SCB Superintendent of SCB Medical College and Hospital and Joint DMET Prof (Dr) Roma Rattan. As per the Health Department notification, the committee shall undertake a detailed enquiry into the allegations and recommend appropriate action to the Odisha government. Earlier in the day, senior officials of the Commissionerate Police informed that the statement of the victims would be recorded and appropriate action would be taken if the allegations were found true.
