Aurangabad: Grandmaster Abhijeet Gupta today won the 49th Premier National Chess championship.

He was declared winner after he tied up the match with Grandmaster Parimarjan Negi and ended up with 9.5 points. Gupta won a cash prize of Rs one lakh, besides the trophy.

Deepan Chakrabarty was declared runner up. Meanwhile, six players -- Abhijeet Gupta, Deepan Chakrabarty, S P Seturaman, M R Venkatesh, Videet Gujarathi and G N Gopal -- have been selected for the national chess team.
