The family of Arnab Mukherjee, a deceased student of Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT University), arrived in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday night and identified his body.
As per reports, officials from Mancheswar Police Station facilitated the process for the identification of the body at the Capital Hospital.
Recounting his last conversation, Arnab's father Jagdish Mukherjee said that Arnab spoke to his mother on Monday night and requested for Rs 200, which she transferred to him via UPI.
"Arnab did not respond to any calls afterwards. Later, the police contacted us," said Jagdish.
However, the circumstances leading to Arnab's death is yet to be ascertained.

Mancheswar police has reportedly started an investigation into the incident.
Recent Deaths Raise Alarm
The tragic incident follows the demise of another KIIT student, a Nepali national, whose body was discovered only a month and a half ago.
This latest death adds to growing concerns regarding students' safety at the varsity.
Arnab was a B-Tech student from the Bankura district of West Bengal, and his body was reportedly found near a under-construction building in the Mancheswar area on Tuesday.
There are unresolved questions about reasons behind Arnab leaving KIIT hostel for Mancheswar and the events leading to his untimely death.
Investigation Continues
Authorities at KIIT have reportedly clarified that the incident occurred off-campus and they are currently awaiting the findings from the ongoing police investigation.
"We had called the parents of the deceased for the identification of the body. They have identified the body. We will conduct the post-mortem of the body. An investigation into the incident is currently underway. Following the completion of the investigation, the reason behind the death could only be ascertained," said Mancheswar Police Station IIC, Mrutunjay Swain.
