Two separate incidents of unnatural deaths have sent shockwaves across Rayagada and Bargarh districts in Odisha, with police initiating probes to ascertain the exact causes. In both cases, the reasons behind the deaths remain unclear, raising concerns among locals and authorities alike.
Hanging Body Found in Mango Orchard in Rayagada
In a disturbing discovery, a man was found hanging from a tree in a mango orchard at Kanidi village under Muniguda police limits in Rayagada district this morning. The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Kumar Deo, a resident of Therubali village under Chandili police station.
Sources reported that locals first spotted the body hanging from a tree in the orchard and immediately informed the authorities.
Police reached the scene shortly after and began preliminary investigations during which a motorcycle reportedly belonging to the deceased was found parked nearby. As both of his feet were reportedly touching the ground, it has raised suspicion whether it was a suicide or a murder staged to look like one.
No suicide note has been recovered, and no statements from family members or eyewitnesses have clarified the matter so far, according to reports. Meanwhile, the body has been sent for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.

Body of Missing Banana Vendor Recovered from Drain in Bargarh
In another incident, the body of a missing youth was recovered from a roadside drain near Lengu Mishra Chhak in Bargarh town. The deceased has been identified as Shankar Tandi, a banana vendor from Bishipara, who had gone missing the previous night.
Locals discovered the body on Sunday and alerted Town police officials, who reached the spot and recovered the body and sent it to Bargarh District Headquarters Hospital for autopsy, said sources.
Shankar's disappearance and sudden death have raised concerns, especially since another youth was reportedly murdered and dumped near Panchayat College just the previous day.
Police are treating the case as suspicious and have not ruled out foul play. They are currently questioning locals and checking CCTV footage from nearby areas.
