Bio-diversity to get importance in Thane dev plan

Thane city is growing at a tremendous pace from which one can imagine its importance. Thus, it is the responsibility to bring back the `old` nature for environmental balance and proper growth of the city, Rajeev told reporters here.

"I want to ensure that the people of the city get the best out of their natural wealth and the civic corporation has decided to do everything for the protection and preservation of bio-diversity," he said, adding that an exhibition of over 500 pictures on the rich natural history of Thane and bio-diversity would be held here from August 12-20.

The TMC would guide the citizens and builders to plant trees which are environment-friendly and various associations have also been asked to undertake tree plantation to protect the green cover of the city, he added.
