The civic authorities have come up with these bamboo barricades as a sustainable replacement to the iron barricades.
The previously installed metal grills were reportedly stolen, which is why bamboos were imported and fixed along medians between Master Canteen and Vani Vihar stretch. But will this help the cause?
No doubt this gives an aesthetic pleasure and serves the very purpose of beautification. But can govt ensure longevity of the bamboo fencing?
The apprehensions over its maintenance can be gauged through a reality check in the below pictures. Even in this picture, to the right side of the biker, a few bamboos are reportedly MISSING.
Here a few people can be seen trying to cross a busy road from one side to the other because a few bamboo sticks have been removed 'illegally' to facilitate movement of pedestrians.
True, bamboo fencing is cost-effective but maintenance is equally complex and challenging task.
A reality check on how the bamboo structures have been already damaged.
The BSCL plans to install similar bamboo structures along the medians of all major roads of the smart city. Only time will tell if this move is smart enough or UNSMART, courtesy the denizens' illegal practices.
