Akshay Tritiya is an Agrarian festival that marks the commencement of agricultural activities in the state. The festival is celebrated by performing 'Akhi Muthi Anukula', a ceremonial act of sowing seeds in paddy fields after ploughing.

Odisha Agri minister Arun Sahoo graced celebrations at State-level Agricultural Machinery Training and Testing Centre in Bhubaneswar as chief guest and initiated the Akhi Muthi Anukula today.
Minister Arun Sahoo ploughed the field on the campus of the training centre.
Akshay Tritiya is considered highly auspicious and holy occasion for Hindu communities. The festival holds special significance for farmers who offer prayers to their farm equipment and sow the first seeds.
Minister Sahoo also inaugurated an exhibition stall at the state-level Farm Machinery Testing and Training Centre.

On the occasion of Akshay Tritiya, the state government will be releasing Rs 804 crore in the bank accounts of 40 lakh small and marginal farmers of Odisha.
Senior Congress leader Suresh Routray also joined farmers and villagers to perform Akhi Muthi Anukula ritual on the pious occasion.
Many people purchase gold ornaments on this day as it is believed that buying gold on Akshay Tritiya brings prosperity and wealth in one’s life.
