Monks are known to possess high level of concentration which they apparently acquire through meditation but sometimes a furry little creature is enough to destroy their attention with “cuteness bomb”.
In one such instance, a saffron-robed monk had to probably face the most difficult test of his life when a cat crawled into his lap during New Year prayers at Wat Udomrangsi, a temple on the outskirts of Bangkok.
The 25-year-monk, Luang Pi Komkrit Taechachoto was trying to read a book when the cat climbed up his robe, kneaded his shoulder and obstructed view to the scripture book. Left with no option, the monk finally comforted the furry intruder leaving aside the reading task.
Nophayong Sookphan, who captured the video, said the furry creature jumped on stage at around 15 minutes to midnight and stayed their until the countdown to New Year's Day. The original video was posted by her on a public Facebook group named "Cats' Slaves", and in no time it became viral, reported Reuters.
The footage has garnered 300,000 views collectively and was also broadcast on Thai TV. The report adds that in Thailand, sight of free roaming cats at Buddhist temples is part of a tradition.
