Nabarangpur: A youth was shot dead by Maoists in Venus village of Raighar block in Nabarangpur district today on the suspicion of being a police informer.

According to sources, the Maoists reportedly called the youth Tunu Ganda, outside his residence and shot him on his head. The extremists reportedly left a poster which claims that Ganda worked as a police informer which is why he was 'punished'.

The poster further alleges that Nabarangpur SP had deployed Tunu to gather information about Maoist activities on Chhattisgarh border.

Speaking on the incident, Umerkote SDPO Hemant Kumar Padhi said," Police officials have reached the spot and have launched an investigation. Initial reports hint at involvement of Maoists."
