Puri: A 23-year-old youth was run over by a Puri bound speeding train at Samsadpur level crossing on Bhubnaneswar-Puri NH 215, about 20 km from here, GRP sources said today. The victim identified as Priyabrat Mohanty, son of an police constable, was on his way to Puri on a motor bike with ear phone and helmet on.
The gate of the level-crossing was closed, but Mohanty tried to pass the level crossing with motor cycle by ducking down the gate bar while the train was approaching it with high speed on Thursday night.
The Rourkela-Puri Express train ran over him as the victim could not hear the sound of the train. The GRP reached the spot and seized the mangled body with the wreckage of the motor cycle and sent for post-mortem, they said.
