Bhubaneswar: A youth was detained by the Passport officials here on Wednesday while he was trying to obtain clearance certificate to visit China.

According to reports, the detained youth, identified as Farid Khan of Bhogarai area of Balasore district had managed to get passport by producing fake documents.

The youth arrived at the Passport Officer here this morning to get the police clearance certificate. But the Passport officials suspected the youth as his name he told them did not match with his voter I-card name. Besides, his signature in the passport did not match with the signature he had in other documents.

In course of investigation, the officials found that the documents produced by Khan were forged.

The youth was later taken for interrogation.

Sources said the Passport officials are trying to get the details of Khan as they suspect him to be a Bangladeshi national.

Besides, investigation is on to know about the intention of his visit to China and the manner in which he was able to get the passport.

Notably, nine Bangladeshi nationals were arrested recently in Bhubaneswar for obtaining passports by producing fake documents.
