Youth charred to death after fire breaks out at house in Odisha’s Keonjhar

A youth died after a fire broke out inside a house in Anandapur area of Odisha’s Keonjhar district, police said. The incident occurred at Bada Danda Sahi in Anandapur on Thursday, where the victim was reportedly alone at the time of the fire.

The deceased has been identified as Debendra Mishra, a newspaper hawker. The cause of the fire remains unclear, and police have begun an investigation into the incident.

Incident Reports

According to reports, the fire broke out on Thursday when Mishra was alone at his house. By the time the blaze was noticed, the fire had already intensified.

Local residents alerted the authorities soon after the flames were spotted. Police and Fire department personnel reached the spot and carried out a rescue operation.

However, the victim could not be saved as the fire had spread extensively inside the house.

Relative Recounts Events

Ankit Mishra, a relative of the deceased, said the victim had returned home earlier in the evening after visiting Bhubaneswar.

“He had gone to meet his son in Bhubaneswar. He returned around 08:00 pm. While returning he probably drank. He had also met us that evening. Through the CCTV cameras installed in our house, we saw that his house was on fire. We noticed it around 11:00 pm and immediately informed the police and Fire Department. They rushed over and carried out the rescue operation, but we do not think anything was left as the fire had intensified and was severe,” he said.

Investigation Underway

Police reached the spot and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
