Youth BJD Leader 'Cheats Girl On Pretext Of Marriage'

Jajpur: A girl from Jajpur district has knocked the doors of police to file a complaint against a youth leader of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) for allegedly cheating her on false promise of marriage. The accused Jitendra Pradhan, happens to be the president of Biju Chhatra Janata Dal of Binjharpur block in the district.

According to the allegations, Jitendra established a physical relationship with her on the pretext of marriage. The girl too agreed and this continued for almost seven years until suddenly she discovered that Jitendra’s family members have fixed his marriage with another woman.

When the girl’s family approached Jitendra’s parents for a discussion, they blatantly denied marrying off their son to her, alleged the victim.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case and recorded the girl's statements under Section 164 CrPC, sources said.

“He maintained a physical relationship with me for many years on the pretext that he will marry me soon. Now he is saying no. He is asking me to marry another man as his marriage has been fixed somewhere else,” said the complainant.

A few pictures which have surfaced on social media indicate that Jitendra is a close aide of BJD MLA and government chief whip Pramila Mallick.

However, response of the accused or police officials could not be obtained over the issue.
