Youth beaten ruthlessly for stealing prawns in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: A youth’s hands and legs were tied with a rope and he was mercilessly thrashed by locals for allegedly stealing prawns from a villager’s pond at Bidyutprabha village under Dhamra area of Bhadrak district early morning today.

The youth has been identified as Bhaskar Das of Nyaykandi area of the district.

According to reports, six to seven persons including Bhaskar were stealing prawns from one Bishnupada Das’ pond late last night. However, the security guard and some locals started chasing the youths. While others managed to escape the spot, Bhaskar was caught.

Later, the locals tied the hands and legs of Bhaskar with a rope and assaulted him. Critically injured Bhaskar was then handed over to the police.

Police rushed him to Basudevpur Community Health Centre (CHC) where he is undergoing treatment and his health condition stated to be stable now, informed sources. Investigation into the incident is underway.
