Rourkela: In a fresh pollution control initiative, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has put in place an Industrial Vacuum Cleaning (IVC) system at Sinter Plant-I in line with Odisha state pollution control board guidelines.

With this, there will be two IVC systems, one for ESP (Electro-Static Precipitator) 1 & 2 and the old ESP and the other for the additional ESP, loading bins and Junction House B having 3 dust collection hoppers.

The total cost of the project was around Rs 1.72 crore.

With the commissioning of the system, the micro fine dust generated by the ESPs will be sucked through pipelines by the machine and will be collected at hoppers and disposed, RSP sources said today.

A total of 25 to 30 tonnes of dust will be collected and disposed of per day with 12 hours of effective running of the machine. CET, Rourkela Sub-Centre provided technological support for the project. The supplier of this machine is M/s TPS Infrastructure Ltd, New Delhi, they said.

The project will immensely contribute towards pollution control measures and providing a dust-free ambience for the benefit of the Sinter Plant-1 collective.

As part of the ongoing expansion and modernisation works, RSP is witnessing the installation of State-of-the-art technology and equipment aimed at environment management and pollution control.
