Women students ransack college for not getting admit card

Bhawanipatna: Students of a privately-run women college in Kalahandi on Wednesday ransacked the campus as the authorities failed to provide them admit card for the Plus Two Board examination, police said.

The students ransacked the furniture and other items of the college and set those on fire.

Police said the students also locked the college from outside and they along with their parents are sitting on dharna in front of the college.

The women’s college having science and commerce courses at Plus Two level is run by an NGO. As many as 128 students in science and 44 students under commerce stream are studying in the college.

The college is yet to get permission from the council.

The students alleged that the director of the NGO L Gunanidhi had promised to provide admit cards and to name the centre where they will sit for the examination, but he did not do so.

The college authorities could not be reached for their version.
