According to an ASHA worker, the woman reportedly struck a deal worth Rs 50,000 for the baby and received Rs 25,000. Following the alleged sale, the woman went missing, and her mobile phone has remained switched off.

Authorities have obtained her residential details from local records. Meanwhile, her other children continue to stay at the family’s house in Patamunda, raising concerns about their care and the mother’s whereabouts.

The motive behind the alleged sale remains unclear. Police and child welfare officials have initiated an investigation into the matter and are making efforts to trace the woman and verify the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Birth and Sale Details

Reports indicate that the woman was initially at Koida Maternity Waiting Home but was later referred to Rourkela, where she gave birth to a boy at Rourkela Government Hospital in August. Two days after delivery, she reportedly gave away her son for Rs 25,000. Investigations are ongoing to determine with whom she made the deal and the current whereabouts of the child.

The ASHA worker stated, “When I asked about her child, she informed me about the deal. She said she gave away the child for Rs 25,000 and mentioned that she was worried about her sustenance due to financial difficulties.”

Authorities continue their investigation to ascertain all details of the case and ensure the child’s safety.
