Woman sarpanch seeks financial help for treatment of former rival
Balasore: In a rare act of humanity, a woman sarpanch of Kurunta panchayat in Khaira block of Balasore district is seeking financial help for the treatment of her former rival, who is suffering from kidney ailment.
According to sources, sarpanch Damayanti Panda has been seeking financial support for the treatment of Akshaya Mohapatra, her rival contestant in the last panchayat elections, by visiting households in the panchayat.
Mohapatra is reportedly suffering from kidney related ailment for a long time and is not able to bear the cost of her treatment.
“We came to know that former sarpanch Akshaya Mohapatra, who is also a social activist, is very sick and requires Rs 30 to Rs 40 lakh for treatment. Though, he belonged to the rival party, yet we decided to help him. We all have humanity in our hearts so despite our rivalry we decided to help him according to our capacity. All the ward and anganwadi members are providing support for his treatment,” Panda said.
