Woman patient ‘misbehaved’ inside ICU in Bolangir hospital

Bolangir: A woman patient today filed a police compliant against the superintendent of Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir alleging misbehavior. The woman was reportedly admitted in the ICU when the superintendent allegedly misbehaved with her.

According to sources, the woman patient identified as Arati Guru is a local BJP party worker. She was admitted in the ICU of the hospital after she complained of chest pain and breathing-related problems.

The woman had lodged a complaint about problems in the toilet of the ICU. Following the complaint, the hospital superintendent Narayan Acharya allegedly shouted and misbehaved with her inside the ICU, sources said.

“The ICU is lacking all sorts of facilities while the condition of the toilet is far worse. When I complained, they targeted me. Later, the superintendent and another official came near my bed and misbehaved and shouted at my husband in foul language. They also tried to manhandle me,” Arati Guru said.

Meanwhile, the BJP Mahila Morcha has threatened agitation if action is not taken against the hospital superintendent.

“The woman had complained about inadequate facilities in the ICU. Keeping a grudge over her, the superintendent misbehaved and used foul language against her. We demand the immediate arrest of the hospital superintendent,” BJP Mahila Morcha leader Sagarika Guru said.

A patient in the nearby bed, Nalini Netra Panda confirmed that the superintendent had misbehaved with the woman.

He said “I felt so bad when the superintendent misbehaved with her. The toilet is really a mess and there is no one to hear to our complaints.”

On the other hand, Narayan Acharya denied commenting on the matter.
